The Indian Plastics Institute (IPI) is one of the India's leading national professional institutes with a countrywide membership of professionals engaged in the plastic industry. It keeps its members abreast with the latest developments in raw materials, processing, applications, tooling and plant and equipment related to plastics. This is achieved through seminars, lecture meetings and workshops conducted at different chapters and sub-chapters throughout the country. With its widespread infrastructure, IPI is able to reach centers of activity by providing them the opportunity to participate in these programs.

The main objectives of IPI:

• To advance and develop for the benefit of its members and the public, the art, science, technology and engineering of plastics, natural and synthetic high polymers and other related materials.
• To form and organize a strong professional body of those connected or concerned with plastics, natural and synthetic high polymers and other related materials.
• To institute, supervise, advise upon and advance the standard and methods of education and training at all levels in the fields of plastics, natural and synthetic, high polymers and other related materials and in related technical and non-technical subjects, including finance and management thereof.

Training & Seminars

IPI organizes on a regular basis at various centers the following activities to spread the knowledge, stimulate thinking and gain experience.

• Training and Educational courses for Diploma and Licentiate Examinations of PRI London and conducting the said examinations, on behalf of PRI was one of the main activities till the year 1987.
• Refresher courses, study workshops, brain storming sessions and factory visits.
• Symposia, technical lectures by visiting experts and get-togethers.
• The Institute also conducts study tours to developed countries for the benefit of the members where they get opportunities to attend international exhibitions and technical seminars, also visit to the factories, which adds to their knowledge since they can see and hear regarding the developments taking the developments taking place in the field of plastics.

IPI will continue to play a vital role and complementary role to universities and other educational and training establishments in drafting course curricula, providing faculty facilities through its members and arranging industrial training for students, etc. In keeping with this, IPI is represented on the Governing Council of CIPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology), UNIDO assisted Central Government Training establishment at Madras with Extension Centers at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Imphal, Lucknow and Mysore.
